The past two years have been transformative for Marcus as a person and deepened his interest in politics.
Marcus worked as a sales manager for nearly 5 years. In the summer of 2019 Marcus began experiencing hostility in the workplace that was enabled by his coworkers and upper management. Despite Marcus reporting racial and sexual discrimination to upper management, nothing was done to address and correct the toxic environment. While Marcus endured months of harassment he kept diligent records of the mistreatment. Ultimately, Marcus was forced to leave his position.
Since leaving his prior employer, Marcus began sharing his experience with the people around him. To his dismay, he learned that many people have very similar experiences of mistreatment. Marcus has heard many stories of mistreatment within companies that have zero regard for the wellbeing of their employees. Hearing from families that have lost loved ones due to mistreatment in the workplace and poor healthcare system has brought tears to his eyes on more than one occasion. Marcus believes that employees give a company value and they should be treated as a valuable part of the workplace.

Ultimately, this increases prices as the quality of our products and our quality-of-life crumble further and further from comfort. This hurts most Americans.
As a federal legislator, Marcus is dedicated to fighting each and every day for the poor, disenfranchised, and unheard. Marcus will work to right this system that leaves so many feeling that no matter what they do it will keep working against them.
Whether it's healthcare, housing, immigration, jobs, or our children, Marcus understands that these issues impact everyone in our society. Marcus promises to focus on listening to understand. He will work with his constituents and create solutions together to solve the real problems. Marcus is focused on creating real change, not band-aids and false promises.
No one deserves to be harassed at the workplace, especially when many are working their jobs simply to survive. We need someone who pushes protections for workers.
Marcus wants to ensure everyone has access to the support and resources necessary for mental wellness. No matter the battle someone is fighting, they shouldn’t be doing it alone.
As a first generation American from a Jamaican family, Marcus believes that everyone deserves a safe pathway to citizenship and access to basic human rights.
